Regular dental exams and cleanings are the foundation of a healthy smile. At your initial visit, your dentist will perform a comprehensive dental exam to evaluate your overall oral health. During routine check-ups, we examine diagnostic X-rays (radiographs) to detect cavities, bone loss, cysts, tumors, and issues that may not be visible during a visual exam.
We also assess tooth and root positions to ensure everything is functioning properly. Your appointment includes an oral cancer screening, where we carefully examine the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, and soft tissues for any signs of concern. We also evaluate your gums and supporting bone structure for signs of periodontal (gum) disease and thoroughly check all tooth surfaces for decay. Existing restorations such as fillings and crowns are examined to ensure they remain in good condition.
